Default Orange Oil Cleaning

I've been enjoying the way orange oil removes other smells in the house, but the products are often expensive. I did a quick search and found someone who saves citrus peels in white vinegar for a few weeks, and the vinegar smell goes away. Then strain.

Does anyone have more tips on how they do it?

Orange ya glad I posted this?

GSE (grapefruit seed extract) works as a cleaner and disinfectant. I put a drop of it on my toothbrush everyday. Several drops of it in a quart of water lasts a long time for cleaning purposes. A bottle of GSE will last a long, long time and costs about $10.00 or so. Lavender oil also does the same thing and smells like heaven. Did you know that ORGANIC orange peels can be dehydrated and used as vitamin C???

My grandmother used to put orange peels in her baked goods. Probably cooked the vit-C effectiveness out, but at least oranges were probably organic back then.

Yesterday I bought a few lemons limes oranges grapefruits, and filled a jar for each. I'm looking forward to smelling the grapefruit! All of them.

(Then I cut up a huge carrot and marinated it in one of the same mixes...pickled carrots for Easter.)

Default Yes!

I have been making this cleaner for several years now. LOVE IT. I throw in lemon peel when we have it, the kids love the little cuties oranges that are in-season right now, so I am flush with my orange cleaner.

Do you! What proportion of peel to vinegar do you use when preparing it? It almost seems like it doesn't matter, unless wanting a strong citrus smell.

I understood to just cover it. So that is what I did. Just started a few days ago. The peels started rising as I poured so I ended up going to the lip.

Correct me if I am wrong. The jar was over 3 fourths full with peels.
