Default Pokemon Go!

Have you guys been hearing about this new app called Pokemon Go!? Apparently, people use GPS to go all over town trying to find Pokemon (creatures from the game), and when they find one, they use the app to catch it with the Poke-ball. Tons of people I know are doing this, so the talk has been on-going this week. People talk about running their cars out of gas looking for them and laugh about getting exercise. They post pictures of themselves interacting with the little creatures (shown through the ap). It's bizarre that so many adults (even the ones WITHOUT children) are getting into this.

I saw this video from Gonz from Face Like the Sun that suggests this technology might have nefarious implications for the future: "Pokémon GO! and BIBLE PROPHECY? The Externalization of Augmented Reality - End Times Tech" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CrwS3JqcgI.

Here's another article I saw this week; it's an interview with the creator of the phenomenon:
Pokémon Creator Admits Games are Anti-Christian, Aimed Towards Satanists" http://www.p4rgaming.com/pokemon-cre...rds-satanists/

Finally, here's a weird thing: a lot of the Pokemon stops (intentionally or unintentionally?) are located at places of worship...? "'Pokémon GO' Is Sending its Users to Churches and Mosques" https://www.inverse.com/article/1800...rd-mobile-game

I'm in the DFW area. Is this where you are?

Never cared for Pokemon. Creeped me out as well. Gremlins also creeped me out.

Default Really happened

So I was in the parking lot after Bible study tonight talking to the coordinator, and 2 separate groups of people came by with their phones out hunting Pokemon. My church is, apparently, a stop on the app. We invited them to Bible study the next week!

hullo fam!
My mom pointed me at this article and I want to be open and honest. I do like pokemon, I mean more when i was a kid, so I suppose this is a tough pill to swallow.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury..... I propose that the interview in which Satoshi Tajiri says he was rebelling against his christian parents is FAKE.

I will let you decide, but it struck me as odd that he had christian parents at all. Christianity is a minority in the eastern world, sooooo I wanted to fact check it. Everyone in the comments of that article said it's fake, and this is supposedly the REAL article that interview comes from.

here's another one

It's always suspicious when people reference an interview without providing the correct documentation

Default Thank you!

Thank you for correcting me on this article! I hate it when those fake ones get me! Sorry to everyone for posting a dud.

My daughter's boyfriend is into it now. He was trying to drive and hunt Pokemon simultaneously. She took over the app for him while he drives, but how many other people are driving and hunting?

It is ok. I let him know about it and he checked it out. I am not that tech savvy. That sure can be dangerous. It is good that she is taking over the app so he don't get into a car accident.

Default awkward

Seems awkward that this pokemon game app has many people going to churches all over. Something just doesn't seem right. Then I also read that people are so distracted by this app that they get into accidents or get robbed.

Quote:
While Pokémon Go has become an overnight sensation in the U.S., authorities highlighted in a Reuters report noted that the gaming app has played a role in armed robberies in Missouri, the discovery of a body in Wyoming and minor injuries to distracted fans.

"When you're involved in a game and not paying attention to what's going on around you, your situational awareness can go down," Greensboro, North Carolina police officer Ben Wingfield noted in the report.
"We encourage all people playing Pokemon Go to be aware of their surroundings and to play with friends when going to new or unfamiliar places," Pokemon Company International and Niantic told Reuters in an emailed statement.
