Default Is a A Mass Exodus by Doctors from Medicare on the Horizon?

Quote:
If MACRA is implemented according to the arbitrary timeline set by the administration, it could force doctors to abandon private practice for salaried positions or leave practice altogether — neither of which would be good for patient care. So, yes, we all should care how doctors get paid.

They've been having an exodus for years. Even 10 years ago older doctors were retiring early due to insurance costs. Walk around most hospitals. It's shocking how many of the doctors are not native born Americans. We have to get them from overseas to fill the jobs.

At the hospital where I work, there are LOTS of employed doctors. Our switchboard is also the answering service for many of the docs. Of the 100+ doctors on the answering service, I'd say only around 10% of those are NOT employed doctors. Even the specialists (cardiologist, pulmonologist, ortho, and GI docs) are all employed docs, rather than private practice.

That is an interesting article, Friend. I will have to think about that for a while to see if I can see the "unintended consequences."

Well, I know that more NP's are handling the case loads in doctor's offices in this area. And it is very hard to even get a simple antibiotic prescribed without threatening to practically pull out their teeth (just kidding). LOL. And Kaiser facilities are using NP's to handle abortions. So, whenever our big brother zero is involved in something, it usually is not for the good of the taxpaying people.

Like someone said (can't remember who it was) they have had a massive exodus for years.

With this in mind after going through a foreclosure almost 3 years ago and living in an apt., I'm ready to move back in the country even if it means renting and grow my own medicine. (Legal, I'm not into the weird stuff, lol).

In today's world we should learn to do that....knowing that we go to Jesus, our healer, first. Now I go to the health food store to buy supplements but who knows if that will be outlawed in time. Even something like this reminds of

Eph. 5:15-17 "Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is."

Not a very spiritual matter but when the time comes we can be a help to someone who needs it, who cannot obtain good medical care for something simple, and provide an opening to lead them to Christ.

Freeman, I'm so blessed that I have a friend around here that use to have a health store. She's 87 now and still lives in the country by herself. She grows most of her own food. She sends emails out about natural cures, healthy foods, gardening etc. It just dawned on me that I should be posting these here. She had a cure for a yeast infection my mom had 30 years ago, when the doctors didn't have anything that worked. I get these emails several times a week. Here's one from today.

------------------------------------------------------
Many years ago when I had the health food shop a lady came in discussing poison ivy. Her grandson was visiting and she warned him about a patch of it. His reply was, "I can't get poison ivy, for the older boys told me if I ate a leaf of it I'd be immune for life."
A few years before, I got poison ivy on my wrists. It was winter and none growing so I guessed it must have come from the hay I was handling. It had been mowed with the hay, baled, and I was feeding it to the sheep when I came in contact with it.
I immediately began taking Rhus. Tox. a homeopathic preparation, and it got rid of it right away.
Last week I was pulling vines from the house and piling them up with my bare hands. The next day I remembered that the telephone repairman had said that the vines were poison ivy, but I had no sign of it.
Remembering the winter's experience, and that I'd taken Rhus tox. all through the time I was handling that hay, I wonder if I took enough of it for it to result in lifetime immunity. Then I remembered, too, that when I opened up a new garden a few years ago that I found myself pulling up poison ivy with my bare hands, roots, leaves, etc., and never got the poison.
Hmmm. I recommend getting a bottle of Rhus tox., keeping it on hand, so that when and if you do get a case, you have the remedy at hand. That is, if you live in the outback, like me. A bottle of 500 tablets is less than $10. Ask for value C.

Radone, that is good to have a friend who knows about growing their own herbal medicines. I know of a Christian lady, who is a doctor, after practicing for a certain number of years she decided to end the "pharmaceutical" way and went back to her roots. Back to true medicine, from the ground up.

I don't know much of the details like what her practice was and how long. I only know her on-line. I believe she's writing a book about herbs from the Bible. I'll have to look into that to know for sure.
